The serine protease TMPRSS2 plays a crucial role in SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis by cleaving the viral S glycoprotein and facilitating viral activation. It has been reported a TMPRSS2 inhibitor approved for clinical use blocked SARS-CoV-2 entry. This lentivirus expresses human TMPRSS2 under the control of the CMV promoter with hygromycin as a selection marker.
