Overview
Concentration and purification of lentiviral supernatant to get high titer, pure lentiviral particles are required for application such as genetic modification of hard-to-transduced cells and sensitive cells, as well as in vivo studies.
Conventional lentivirus purification methods such as ultracentrifugation and ultrafiltration, is time-consuming and requiring specialized equipment. Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) precipitation can be performed using regular centrifuge but can only concentrate virus about 100 folds and the recovery rate is frequently low.
ViroGoldTM lentivirus concentrator was developed to provide a simple and efficient method for concentrate and purify lentivirus in a single step without the need of ultracentrifuge. Using ViroGoldTM lentivirus concentrator, the lentiviral supernatant can be concentrated over 1000 folds with more than 90% of recovery rate. The procedure is easy to be scaled up to process large volumes of lentiviral supernatant.
